From a Michelin-trained chef’s snow skin to a neighbourhood restaurant’s French-crust lava mooncakes, here’s where to buy the best of KL’s 2026 Mid-Autumn season.

COVER Mid-Autumn 2026 Gift Guide

Mooncake season is back, and Kuala Lumpur has clearly been busy. This year’s boxes range from pressed-flower art pieces to jade-toned heirloom trunks, and we’ve thrown in a wildcard from outside the hotel circuit too, so whether you’re shopping for a loved one, your family’s reunion table, or just treating yourself, there’s a lot to choose from this Mid-Autumn season.

Luxury Collections

Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

Park Hyatt’s Taste of Heritage collection is proof you can be contemporary and still feel considered about it. Expect white bean creations like Peach Tea and Cream Cheese, Black Tea Mochi, and a Noble Delight with dragon fruit, alongside a reimagined Black Tea Mung Bean in the baked lineup. The chocolate series brings in Milk Chocolate with Peanut Butter Crunch and Calamansi, and for durian lovers, the snow skin Musang King is back too. The four-piece set comes in a Heritage Box drawing from the hotel’s own architectural details, built to be kept long after the mooncakes are gone, while the two-piece box, with a leather-inspired handle, is the more personal, understated option if you’re gifting one-on-one.

Available for pre-order from 17 August, with collection and delivery from 1 September 2026.

Price: Two-Piece Classic Box RM188 nett; Four-Piece Heritage Box RM288 nett.

Unique Collections

Nota

If you want to step outside the hotel lineup entirely, Nota’s Mid-Autumn Collection is worth the detour. This neighbourhood restaurant swaps the usual baked or snowskin format for French Crust Lava Mooncakes, a crisp French pâtissier crust wrapped around molten centres like Long Jing Red Bean Mochi under a Byakuren matcha crust, Pistachio Lava with Bamboo Charcoal Crust, Belgian Chocolate Lava with Dark Chocolate Crust, and a Pu Er Milk Tea Lava under an Earl Grey crust. The standout is the Ceramic Edition, pairing two mooncakes with a hand-thrown tea pourer and cups by local ceramicist Jasmine Chong of Silo Ceramics, made from Malaysian soil and left unglazed, no two sets are ever quite the same. It’s a smaller, independent operation next to the hotels on this list, but the craft holds its own, and then some.

Price: French Crust Lava Mooncakes (4pc) RM138; Ceramic Edition RM338.

Concorde Hotel Kuala Lumpur

If you want a gift that’s genuinely one of a kind, Concorde’s Mid-Autumn Treasured Petals might be the most unusual box on this list. Each one is handcrafted with real pressed flowers sourced from Yunnan, China, sealed into a clear frame, which means no two boxes ever look exactly alike. Once the mooncakes are done, the frame lives on as a decorative piece or serving tray. Flavour-wise it’s mostly familiar ground, Pure Lotus, Japanese Red Bean, Black Sesame Lotus, alongside the returning signature Snowskin Imperial Musang King Durian, but the one that’s actually new this year is the Snowskin Crimson Velvet Cheese Crunch, velvety and crunchy in a way mooncakes don’t usually get to be.
