The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur Celebrates Ten Years at The Best Address

The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur marks its tenth anniversary with A Decade of Distinction, a programme of curated experiences running from May through October 2026 across The Brasserie, Astor Bar, The Drawing Room, Iridium Spa, and its luxurious suites.

The wainscoted corridors of The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur tell you, before a single word is exchanged, that you are in a place that takes itself seriously without the stiffness of formality.

The gold-tiled ceiling of Astor Bar catches the light amid the clinking of glassware; the Botero horse presides with authority over The Drawing Room; the rooms, the largest standard accommodation in the city, receive you in exclusivity and generosity. Ask anyone who has passed through these spaces across the past decade, and the answer returns with a consistency that speaks to more than reputation: this is a hotel that holds up to its standards, and in a city whose luxury landscape has transformed considerably since 2016, that constancy is distinction.

Ten Years at The Best Address

The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur welcomed its first guests in May 2016 at KL Sentral, the city’s most connected precinct at the time, opposite the National Museum and with vistas of the Lake Gardens, in a 48-storey tower designed by New York’s Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, whose interiors drew from the grammar of a luxurious Manhattan apartment.

The hotel’s 208 rooms and suites begin at 63 square metres, the largest standard rooms in the city, each appointed with a walk-in wardrobe, Austrian crystal chandeliers, and a minibar housed in an travel trunk that draws a line between the room you are in and the Gilded Age sensibility that gave the brand its character. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the city skyline or the verdant expanse of the Lake Gardens beyond.

In the decade since, the hotel has held and deepened its position in KL’s luxury landscape through the consistency of its own venues—The Brasserie, now Michelin Guide-selected; Astor Bar with its gold-tiled domed ceiling and Malaysia’s first experiential Macallan whisky bar; The Drawing Room’s evolving afternoon tea programme; and the award-winning Iridium Spa—and through its standing as the city’s most sought after address for significant occasions in its first-of-its-kind LED-panelled Grand Ballroom.

With a Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star rating and a consistent run of recognition across hospitality, dining and wellness, The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur has not coasted on its opening statement but continued to earn it.

The House of Astor

The St. Regis was never conceived as a hotel. When Colonel John Jacob Astor IV opened the original on Fifth Avenue in New York in 1904, his intention was to invite people into his world: a home shaped by the social customs of the Astor family rather than the conventions of hospitality.

The rituals that define the brand today trace directly to that founding philosophy: the afternoon tea culture that Mrs. Caroline Astor elevated into the defining social ceremony of Gilded Age New York; the champagne sabrage performed each evening at violet hour; and polo, the sport the family patronised, whose spirit animates the brand’s identity to this day. At The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur, that ancestry is present in the Mark Evans hand-etched leather diptychs depicting polo players in full charge, and in Jack’s Club at Astor Bar—named after the Colonel himself—where a Thursday evening of unhurried drinking is, in its own way, a continuation of something that began in Manhattan over a century ago.

A Decade of Distinction

Running from 1 May through 31 October 2026, the anniversary programme is carried across the hotel’s principal venues through a series of experiences conceived to honour its legacy and invite guests to immerse themselves into. A decade is not merely a count of years but a demonstration of intent. The best address in the city, it turns out, is still earning that distinction one experience at a time.

A Table Through Time at The Brasserie

At the heart of the celebration is A Table Through Time, a six-course dinner at The Brasserie that maps each course to a year in the hotel’s culinary story—from the introduction of Scallop Tartare and Oscietra Caviar in 2016, through the Royale Custard with Boston Lobster and Crustacean Emulsion that earmarked the kitchen’s ambitions in 2018, to the Braised Beef Short Rib and the Chocolate and Peanut Butter dessert that have since become fixtures of the permanent menu. The Brasserie, which carries a Michelin Guide selection, has been one of the most consistent arguments for the hotel’s culinary standing in the city since opening, and this anniversary menu is as much pays homage to that journey.

The Brasserie’s anniversary celebrations extends further: in June, July and October, The Epicurean Exchange guest chef series brings Chef Ghayda Aouni of Top Chef Middle East, a guest chef from The St. Regis Bali Resort, and Chef Emmanuel Stroobant of two-Michelin starred St. Pierre Singapore to the kitchen in turn. In August and September, Malaysiaku offers a variation of the six-course dinner infused with Malaysian heritage.

The Afternoon Tea Ritual at The Drawing Room

Afternoon tea has been a St. Regis ritual since Caroline Astor made it the centrepiece of New York’s most coveted social gatherings, and The Drawing Room’s anniversary programme honours that lineage with two distinct expressions across the celebratory period. Until 21 August, The Botanist’s Study traces an expedition through the Perdana Botanical Gardens—immersive, detail-rich, and as much an experience as it is a meal. From 22 August through 31 October, Artistic Afternoon Tea with Chef Keem Ooi takes over, bringing hand-painted confections inspired by a decade of artistry to the one of the hotel’s most iconic spaces presided over by the bronze Botero horse.

A Decade Distilled & Ten Expressions of the Bloody Mary at Astor Bar

At Astor Bar, A Decade Distilled presents ten cocktails structured thematically—Welcome through to Legacy—each representing a defining chapter in the bar’s creative history, starting with the Red Snapper, the original St. Regis Bloody Mary as first perfected in New York in 1934. The Astrid from 2018 sits under Restraint; the Violet Hour Martini from 2023 represents Ritual with the elegance the bar has made its identity; and the Asam Boi Mary from when the hotel was still in development in 2015 is the menu’s most distinctly local expression—the Best Address refracted through the flavours of its city. Alongside, Ten Expressions of the Bloody Mary disperses the brand’s most iconic ritual across ten global addresses, each a study in cultural translation. Among them, the Lang Mary from The St. Regis Langkawi is the most evocative of the Malaysian landscape.

The bar’s anniversary calendar continues through the second half of the year with its Raising the Bar guest shift series welcoming bartenders from The St. Regis Singapore, Jakarta, and Bangkok in July, August, and September respectively.

A Decade of Celebration Anniversary Stay Package

For those who wish to experience the anniversary in its fullest form, A Decade of Celebration composes the hotel’s signature experiences into a luxurious suite experience. It is a guided passage through everything the hotel does best—breakfast at the Michelin-selected Brasserie, The Botanist’s Study Afternoon Tea for two, the six-course anniversary dinner, The Decade Reset spa experience for two, and a guided Hotel Art Walk arranged through your butler, leading you through a private art collection that includes the Botero horse and the Mark Evans leather diptychs.

At the heart of the stay is the 24-hour St. Regis Signature Butler Service and its Allow Me promise. The suites themselves set the stage: appointed with walk-in wardrobes, Austrian crystal chandeliers, and a minibar housed in an antique travel trunk that connects the room to the Astor era as much as it serves a practical purpose. In-suite champagne sabrage by your butler marks the violet hour with the theatrical flourish the brand has practised since its New York origins—a ritual performed across every St. Regis address in the world, and privately yours for the evening.

The stay concludes with a complimentary Anniversary Candle and a 10-Year Special Edition Butler Bear as exclusive keepsakes. A Decade of Celebration is valid for stays from 1 to 31 May 2026.
