The Nacre Weekender is our curated compass for what’s worth showing up for. Each week, we highlight timely experiences across dining, culture, markets, and movement—events that speak to the way the city is shifting, stretching, or coming into its own.
This weekend moves between sharp flavours and soft launches, communal buzz and polished calm. From a three-day coffee festival to a meditative drunch with a Japanese twist, and the quiet arrival of Malaysia’s first Park Hyatt, these are the six moments to note.
8–10 Aug: Pesta Kopi @ Semua House

A three-day coffee festival unfolds in Semua House, offering a rare opportunity to see the regional coffee scene converge in one place. With participation from over 40 cafés, roasters, and baristas—including dedicated delegations from Indonesia—Pesta Kopi is a cross-cultural industry gathering with a casual, open-door format.
Alongside pop-up counters and brewing showcases, the festival will feature SWEETLAB, a competitive mocktail showdown hosted by K-HUBS Coffee and Lesweet. Held on Saturday from 5PM to 7PM, the challenge invites 20 contenders to create zero-calorie drinks with a mystery syrup under timed conditions, adding theatre and flair to an otherwise grassroots affair.
Free admission.
9 Aug: IN MOTION 3.0 @ W Kuala Lumpur

Instagram: (@wkualalumpur)
Now in its third iteration, W Kuala Lumpur’s signature wellness event returns with a full-day lineup of guided movement sessions, DJ-curated workouts, mindfulness programming, and cold plunge sessions, all layered across the ever-popular WET Deck, and function space.
This edition continues the hotel’s ambition to reframe wellness through the lens of design, sound, and energy. Expect a mix of high-intensity and restorative sessions, opportunities to discover local wellness brands, and post-session zones for light bites and recovery. Attend one class, or get an all-access pass including lunch if you’re planning to attend the full day.
The tone is elevated but relaxed. This is an urban wellness community that values curation, space, and the interplay between sweat and stillness.
9 Aug: Bottega Moments Vol. 8 @ Bottega KL
Bottega KL’s monthly aperitivo mixer returns with its eighth edition this Friday, once again transforming the Italian grocer and home-style dining room into a communal, free-flow evening of seasonal Mediterranean food, music, and easy conversation. Guests can select from several package options—ranging from non-alcoholic to wine-inclusive or full cocktail packages—while the kitchen sends out rounds of antipasti, warm pasta dishes, and dessert boards on rotation.
The setting is casual and effortlessly social, with a crowd that mixes KL regulars, European expats, and first-timers drawn to the atmosphere. A live DJ set rounds out the afternoon, but the main appeal remains the food and the space’s natural rhythm. It is an Italian-style day party for fifty.
9 Aug: Tokyo Night @ FLOCK, W Kuala Lumpur

Part of W Kuala Lumpur’s 7th annivesary celebrations, aptly titled Revel Seven, Flock’s Saturday drunch series continues with a cross-brand collaboration that pulls in The Tokyo Restaurant for one night only. The well-loved Japanese bistro, known for its understated lunch sets and cult-status burnt cheesecake, joins the W kitchen for a buffet-style spread of shared mains, hot counters, and a rotating dessert bar.
The menu leans savoury, with warm rice bowls, glazed protein dishes, and unexpected pairings between Flock’s modern Asian pantry and Tokyo Restaurant’s pared-back Japanese palate. Desserts are included—both classic and in reinterpreted forms.
Bookings are recommended, as themed editions tend to fill in advance. Reserve with W Kuala Lumpur here.
10 Aug: Royal Selangor Jazz Festival

(Official Site: Royal Selangor Visitor Centre)
Held across four custom-built stages at the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre, this one-day festival features 19 live jazz acts in rotation, supported by a satellite programme of food trucks, artisan markets, film screenings, and open jam sessions. The event runs from noon into the night, offering full access to performances alongside tours of the pewter workshop and brand exhibitions.
The musical programming balances legacy performers with emerging names, while the grounds are designed to support both long-stay festival-goers and casual drop-ins. Royal Selangor Privilege members will also receive additional perks. Walk-ins are welcome, though early arrival is advised for those seeking shade and front-row access.
A rare large-format festival with cultural and design credibility, this one-day event has quietly become one of KL’s best-organised public offerings this season.
Bonus: Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Official Opening

After years of anticipation, Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur has officially opened for reservations this week. Regally positioned within the upper floors of Merdeka 118, the hotel begins welcoming guests on 7 August (Thursday) with its core hospitality services in place.
This is Malaysia’s first Park Hyatt and one of the highest-located hotels in the world. Designed with an emphasis on spatial privacy, light, and local materiality, the hotel is expected to set a new standard for urban luxury in the city centre.
While the full public unveiling is expected in phases, early guests (and curious ones) this weekend will be among the first to experience the property ahead of its official launch.
