World Sleep Day falls on the Friday before the March Equinox every year and The Westin Kuala Lumpur is inviting guests to embrace rest and immerse themselves in a restorative experience.  With “Celebrate Rest” as the theme this year, an elevated sleep experience has been designed to ensure guests leave feeling rested and renewed.

The Westin operates on its Six Pillars of Well-BeingEat Well, Sleep Well, Move Well, Work Well, Play Well & Feel Well—incorporated in all its facilities, amenities and experiences. We attended an exclusive event at the Lower Lobby Lounge where we learnt about the special Celebrate Rest offerings that are available throughout March 2025 in conjunction with World Sleep Day.

Sink into Westin Heavenly Beds

First introduced in 1999, the Westin Heavenly Bed has been a signature of the hotel brand. The latest version is fitted with a duo-chrome grey and white aesthetic, featuring improved cooling technology, antimicrobial silver mesh weave, better support with gel-infused energy diffusion foam, and plush Westin pillows. All of which come together to create a sleep experience unlike any other.

Fair warning: The beds are so luxurious and comfortable that you’d run the risk of missing an early morning flight or the extensive breakfast spread.

Recharge with Hyperice & Bala

Guests who make reservations under the Celebrate Rest package are also entitled to a complimentary one-day use of the Rest & Recharge Kit by Hyperice or the Sculpt & Flow Kit by Bala. The kits are also available on rental for all hotel guests—perfect for you are coming from a high-strung meeting environment, or an intense workout in the hotel’s 24/7 Move Well fitness centre.

Eat Well, Sleep Well

The Westin is also offering an special Sleep Well menu that features lighter flavours and clean eats that promote a good night’s rest, specially created by Chef de Cuisine Firdaus Atan Din. These dishes are part of the in-room dining a la carte menu. We had the opportunity to experience a four-course Sleep Well menu in the one-of-a-kind Chairman’s Suite on the 34th and 35th floor of the hotel.

Beetroot & Strawberry Salad

ABOVE Beetroot & Strawberry Salad

Shades of red dominate the appetiser, strawberry halves and beetroot slices laid out beautifully teased the palate with its fresh flavours, but I prefer a stronger taste profile. However, it feels appropriate for the theme, fitting nicely into the wellness concept—a trend observed in all the dishes below.

Asian-style Chicken Broth

ABOVE Chicken Soup

Inspired by the nourishing Malaysian-style chicken soups, elevated with French consommé techniques, this clear broth had all the flavour-makings of a good soup whilst maintaining a balanced seasoning profile. Parisienne vegetables added a sophisticated touch with the bites of chicken.

Norwegian Salmon en Papillote

ABOVE Salmon en Papillote

A hefty fillet of salmon baked in foil with Mediterranean vegetables like tomatoes, fennel, peppers and mushrooms. The fish was lightly seasoned, no sodium-induced bloating for a good night’s rest.

Almond & Lavender Panna Cotta

ABOVE Almond & Lavender Panna Cotta

The almond & lavender panna cotta served with fresh berries and truffle-scented granola rounds off the Sleep Well menu, serving double duty as a sweet treat and a night cap. This flavour in this version is not as rich and heavy as most panna cotta but it is supposedly gentler on the gut.

Sleep-friendly Goodness

The menu is designed with sleep-promoting amino acids, vitamins and minerals in mind. Each of the dishes are packed with the best nutrients such as:

  • Magnesium and Potassium: Help relax blood vessels, muscles, and nerves, promoting sleep and preventing insomnia
  • Melatonin: Resets sleep-wake cycles, and improves sleep quality
  • Folate: Helps fight fatigue
  • Thiamine: Regulates body’s enzymatic reactions to help improve sleep patterns
  • Serotonin: Promotes relaxation and induces sleepiness
