Marriott Bonvoy x KHATAM: A Memory Etched In Time

A collaboration where hospitality wears heritage

Festive hospitality in Malaysia has long been shaped by tradition — a season where design, craft, and community converge to express what makes the country culturally distinct. From the theatre of festive dining to the quiet symbolism woven into textiles and rituals, Ramadan and Eid are moments that celebrate heritage as a living expression of Malaysian identity.

This season, a collaboration between Marriott Bonvoy and the Malaysian fashion house KHATAM titled “A Memory Etched in Time” moves beyond the traditional hospitality playbook; weaving design, craft, and retail into the very fabric of the hotel stay.

Running from 18 February to 20 March 2026, the campaign echoes a sentiment from Masri, Senior Area Director of Operations, who suggests that both brands are essentially “in the business of making memories”—one through environment, the other through cultural expression.

The Artisan Edge

Exclusive expressions to celebrate the collaboration: Samping Tampuk Kecepu and the Artisan Clay Batik collection

The highlights of the collaboration are two exclusive design expressions. The first is the Samping Tampuk Kecepu, a motif inspired by the tampuk—the purposeful moment a flower transforms into fruit, symbolising continuity and renewal through structured lines and delicated floral forms.

Equally compelling is the Artisan Clay Batik collection. Distinguished from mass-produced prints, these pieces are hand-drawn by master artisans in Kelantan using traditional clay techniques that showcase the patience and intricacies of generational craft.

From Lobbies to Boutiques

A Memory Etched in Time also introduces limited-edition keepsakes. Raya cookie boxes and Sampul Raya (Raya packets), designed by Malaysian artist Osman Akbar, will be available at participating locations including The Westin Kuala Lumpur, Aloft KL Sentral, and Putrajaya Marriott Hotel.

Selected properties will also host KHATAM pop-up stores, transforming portions of the lobby into temporary boutiques that allow guests to engage directly with the collaboration and take a tangible piece of the experience home.

Being “Loyal to Tradition”

KHATAM Loyalists can enjoy exclusive privileges on Ramadan buffets at selected Marriott Bonvoy hotels

The collaboration also bridges the two brands’ digital communities. Marriott Bonvoy members receive a 10% discount on KHATAM’s Raya collections. while, KHATAM Loyalist members enjoy up to 20% off on Ramadan dining privileges at participating Marriott restaurants throughout the campaign.

While the campaign launches during Ramadan and Raya, it is intended to evolve into a long-term partnership between the two brands. Members of either loyalty programme can expect curated privileges, cross-brand rewards, and seasonal lifestyle activations throughout the year.

For the modern Malaysian, the buffet may still be a main draw, but it is no longer the only experience on offer. By turning the hotel into a platform for local craft, Marriott Bonvoy and KHATAM are creating a movement in festive hospitality—one where memory is portrayed not only through flavour, but through cultural participation.
