Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur has officially opened its doors on 18 December 2025, marking the lifestyle hotel brand’s long-anticipated debut in Malaysia. Located within Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), now firmly established as one of Kuala Lumpur’s most dynamic business and lifestyle districts, the hotel enters a part of the city defined by connectivity, commerce, and a growing social rhythm anchored by The Exchange TRX mall and its integrated transit hub.

Directly connected to the mall yet operating with its own dedicated porte cochere, Kimpton Naluria positions itself as both a convenient city base and a social destination in its own right. It reflects Kimpton’s signature approach to hospitality: design-forward, people-centric, and attuned to how guests actually move through a city, whether for work, leisure, or a combination of both.

The launch is led by General Manager Paul Cunningham, who oversees Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur’s entry into the Malaysian market. His appointment signals a focus on establishing the brand’s service culture and social energy from day one, as the hotel positions itself within one of the city’s most prominent business and lifestyle districts.

Inspired by Malaysia’s Landscape

Designed by Hassell Studio, Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur embraces a palette that leans warm and grounding. Earthy tones, natural stone, timber finishes, and layered greenery form a visual language that references Malaysia’s rainforests without tipping into pastiche. Sculptural lighting and terrazzo accents soften the spaces, creating an atmosphere that feels composed rather than performative.

The hotel’s name, “Naluria,” draws from the Malay words naluri (instinct) and ria (joy), a pairing that captures the property’s underlying philosophy. Luxury here is framed not as ceremony or excess, but as something intuitive and relaxed, designed to feel personal rather than distant.

The lobby is conceived as a social living room rather than a transitional space, anchored by a coffee bar that encourages lingering throughout the day. It is a deliberate move that sets the tone early, signalling that Kimpton Naluria is as much about gathering and conversation as it is about accommodation.

Rooms Designed for the City & the Staycation

Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur houses 466 rooms and suites, ranging from Essential Rooms and Premium Rooms to Studio Suites and One Bedroom Suites. Celebrity and Presidential Suites are part of the long-term offering but are not yet available at opening.

Rooms are dressed in a palette of creams, warm browns, and emerald greens, with views spanning the city skyline or the Royal Selangor Golf Club. Some rooms feature soaking tubs, adding a staycation-friendly layer to what is otherwise a highly functional city hotel. Penhaligon’s bath amenities underline the hotel’s positioning, offering a familiar marker of refinement without excess.

The balance between work and leisure is clear. Rooms are practical enough for business travellers navigating TRX’s offices and meeting spaces, yet visually and materially considered enough to appeal to weekend guests looking for a city escape that feels current and indulgent.

Social Spaces & Dining Venues

Dining at Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur is positioned as an extension of the hotel’s social energy rather than a standalone destination play, at least in its opening phase. Four distinct venues anchor the experience, each contributing a different rhythm to the day.

At the heart of the hotel is Tuai+Till, an all-day dining concept that operates as two complementary experiences under one roof. Tuai, derived from the Malay word for harvest, presents itself as a cosy Malaysian café, while Till, referencing the tilling of land before cultivation, transitions into a more elegant Western brasserie by evening. Together, the concept reflects a growing industry-wide shift among high-end hotels towards heritage-informed cooking and a renewed focus on ingredients, place, and narrative as markers of identity.

Sabato’s offers a contrast in tone. Framed as a retro Italian-American restaurant inspired by the exuberance of 1970s disco culture, it leans into indulgence and nostalgia with red-sauce classics, communal sharing platters, and an Italian-focused wine list. Complete with a jukebox spinning Saturday Night Fever-era tracks, Sabato’s positions itself as playful, convivial, and deliberately unpolished in spirit. Its name, drawn from the Italian word for Saturday, reflects its easy, celebratory mood.

For everyday rhythms, Rise & Grind serves as a contemporary all-day espresso bar, blending modern brewing techniques with nods to local kopitiam culture. Designed for convenience without sacrificing quality, it caters equally to guests, office crowds, and those passing through TRX.

The hotel’s social anchor, however, is Four Siblings. Perched as the only rooftop bar in the TRX precinct, it distinguishes itself as Malaysia’s first spice-themed bar, drawing inspiration from four foundational Malaysian spices: star anise, cinnamon, cardamom, and clove. The cocktail programme leans inventive yet approachable, pairing spice-infused drinks with creatively plated coastal bites influenced by South American flavours and Malay tapas traditions. As both a sunset spot and an evening gathering place, Four Siblings encapsulates the hotel’s intent to be social without being performative.

Spaces to Connect

Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur is home to the first rooftop outdoor pool in TRX, offering sweeping city views and reinforcing the hotel’s lifestyle credentials. The pool experience is positioned more as a leisure escape than an athletic facility, aligning with the hotel’s emphasis on relaxation and sociability.

In terms of events, the hotel takes a deliberate stance. Rather than pursuing large-scale banquets, Kimpton Naluria offers a suite of meeting spaces designed for conversations, workshops, and gatherings ranging from intimate groups of nine to approximately 75 guests through flexible room combinations. Named after Malaysian botanicals such as tamarind, lemongrass, ginger, nutmeg, and lime, these spaces favour interaction over spectacle. There is no grand ballroom at opening, a choice that aligns with the hotel’s positioning as a place for exchange rather than ceremony.

Notably, Kimpton Naluria deviates from the brand’s usual pet-friendly policy, a decision likely influenced by its central business district location.

Be The First to Experience

At opening, Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur enters the market with an accessible entry point for a design-led hotel in the TRX district, particularly for IHG One Rewards members. As part of the programme, guests can earn and redeem points at the hotel, adding further appeal for frequent travellers and staycationers navigating the city.

The hotel is best suited for business travellers operating within TRX, as well as city staycationers seeking a design-led, socially driven alternative to Kuala Lumpur’s more formal luxury hotels. It does not aim to compete directly with established high-luxury names nearby, but instead offers a compelling middle ground where personality, location, and value intersect.

A New Chapter for Kimpton

Kimpton Hotels & Resorts, an IHG Brand

With Kimpton Naluria Kuala Lumpur, the brand’s arrival in Malaysia feels measured rather than declarative. It enters a district that is already fully formed, offering travellers another credible option that reflects contemporary expectations of hospitality: ease, connection, and a sense of place without rigidity.

A deeper on-the-ground Experience will reveal how this vision translates in practice, but as an opening statement, Kimpton Naluria sets a confident tone for what Kimpton’s presence in Malaysia can become.
